With a dark history and only 5% speaking the native language today, Hawai'i is in danger of losing its indigenous traditions forever. "I am Kanaka" gives a glimpse into the future with ex-teacher Kaina Makua's education program preserving Hawaiian culture and teaching life skills to underprivileged kids.

Originally from Sydney, Australia, Genevieve trained professionally as an actor with Hugh Jackman at WAAPA - ranked as one of the top 30 Drama Schools Drama in the world. She went on to appear in commercials, films and TV shows such as Home & Away, A Country Practice, Water Rats and Police Rescue over the next 10 years. A lateral move into the corporate world saw her living and working overseas in China, Singapore, the U.S and Europe for companies like Google, Goldman Sachs & BP. She returned to the film industry in 2018 with an MA Producing in London where she is now based.
